NEO-ACT Adult Communication Group | Dec 2

The Northeast Ohio Adults Communicating Together (NEO-ACT) group meets weekly and provides a peer support system for stroke survivors who, after completing traditional, individual, or group therapy, find themselves merely going home and having minimal contact with others. This free program is geared toward communication and is composed of individuals from a variety of living environments with communication disorders resulting from stroke, head injury, or diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s in a nonjudgmental environment. Caregivers are also welcome to attend the group. Tracy Biller, CHSC Speech-Language Pathologist, leads this weekly group.

FREE Weekly Stuttering Support Group - Teenage Group | Dec 3

Free Weekly Stuttering Support Group for teens. Meetings will be held remotely via Zoom and led by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists. Participants will need access to a laptop or tablet with a web camera and a stable internet connection. Groups will participate in practicing fluency shaping and stuttering modification techniques in a safe and supportive environment, discuss emotional aspects of stuttering, and build confidence in their ability to communicate with others.

NEO-ACT Book Club | Dec 8

Over 14 weeks, the Northeast Ohio Adults Communicating Together (NEO-ACT) group will read "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow. The focus for participants is to improve reading comprehension and the ability to speak with others during book discussions which are skills often impaired after a stroke or other brain injury. Participants can choose to read a physical copy of the book, use the Kindle version (e-readers are available for loan) and/or use Audible. This free program is led by CHSC Speech-Language Pathologist, Tracy Biller.
